Lucy Pritchard BSc (Hons) PGDip MBACPCounsellor, Psychotherapist, Meditation TeacherI provide counselling for individuals and couples. My experience includes working in an employed capacity and also working privately. I have worked for Mind a leading mental health Charity, Leeds City College as staff and student counsellor and I have also worked in a Community mental health setting for the NHS where I supported people struggling with complex, enduring mental health difficulties. I have worked with a variety of different people, of all ages with a very wide range of issues and severity Prior to becoming a psychotherapist my job involved travelling the world extensively for over a decade. This experience has given me a very broad perspective and I have developed valuable multi-cultural awareness. This experience of extensive travel resulted in my worldview expanding and I became inspired to develop a personal interest in Eastern Philosophies and spiritual teachings, I then began the process of self inquiry and wanted to gain more self awareness, this gave rise to me becoming a therapist. Becoming a psychotherapist seemed like a very natural career choice for me as it combined my enjoyment of listening to and meeting new diverse people and my natural ability to be able to understand other people’s feelings and their perspectives. It also fulfills my desire to help others and do something that feels meaningful with my life. I now work solely in private practice and work exclusively with private clients. I offer therapy that fits what is right for each individual, so it can be short term or open ended, we would work together to discover what feels right for you and your individual situation. I like to review our work together and I have found from personal experience that 6 sessions is good amount of sessions to evaluate after, this gives the therapy chance and for us to build a therapeutic alliance, however each of us is unique and some people will require a much more open ended therapy, while others it could be just for assessment only. My university training was BACP Accredited. I have a master’s level post graduate diploma in Counselling& Psychotherapy and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. The model I am trained in is Relational psychotherapy; this is rooted in attachment theory and is integrative. During my formal education I chose to concentrate on humanistic and transpersonal psychology, my interest in these approaches then led me to become a qualified Yoga and Meditation teacher, I trained in India in Rishikesh in an ashram environment, therefore in some instances, where appropriate and if requested I am able to draw from this background to inspire my work and integrate mindfulness and breathwork into your therapeutic programme This means that I am equipped to and can draw from many different theoretical models to ensure that I can offer you a tailor made service, as I believe each of us are unique and no one size fits all. Hence we will work collaboratively, customizing our sessions to help meet your personal therapeutic needs. It is through my own personal journey, life experiences and qualifications that I feel confident to be alongside you as you go inwards and learn more about yourself, develop self awareness and find your own answers. My private practice is successful, continues to thrive and is reputable. I have a track record of helping people gain self-awareness, to understand themselves and their relationships better, and generally find life easier. |
